Goodbye to Another Fiscal Year

Since becoming Dean of Library Services, I find that the ebb and flow of my job are more closely aligned with the beginning and end of the fiscal year than with the academic year. That being the case, this week is equivalent to finals week in my mind! Celebration is in order because next year’s budget is on the books!
Journal subscription cost inflation isn’t as high this year as it has been in the past, which has left us more funds to invest in online journals. We’re pleased to be adding a 3rd JSTOR collection this year as well as more e-books. Another area of cost increase seems to be for services such as bibliographic utilities, maintenance agreements, etc.

What are the rest of you spending your money on this year? Comment to this blog and I’ll try to summarize something coherent!
